The Fredericksburg area is close to Washington D.C. so we can take advantage of all the cultural and entertainment of our nations capitol. Right here in our City we have an abundance of civil war history waiting to be explored. We are less than an hour from the Shenandoah Mountains where the Appalachian Trail runs through Virginia. We have lakes for water sports and rivers for White water rafting and canoeing. The Potomac River is at our fingertips, providing excellent water for boating and of course we are famous for our seafood. We have a very active football program in our high schools, which see packed stadiums each week at every school. We have a year round ice skating rink and also roller skating facilities and bowling too. The area has an abundance of golf courses with almost year round golfing. Several local wineries brag about their wines and have events regularly. We have excellent shopping right here in the city and county and have a marvelous and huge outlet mall 20 minutes away, Potomac Mills. Our local college, Mary Washington College, is very highly rated and provides entertainment and lectures where the public is welcome at Dodd Auditorium. The Atlantic Ocean is 2.5 hours away, and the trip there takes us right by Historic Williamsburg. Quaint towns and beautiful horse country surround us. Yes Fredericksburg Virginia truly is for lovers.
